Microsoft updates that are for 32 bit applications?
Seems like half the time there are updates almost half are for 32 bit applications.

Yes there is a reason to download the updates. Many of the current applications are 32 bit running on 32 or 64 bit machines. The updates will take care of any reported problems irrespective of the style PC 32 or 64 bit.

Just my thoughts.

As soon as I buy a new computer the first thing I do is disable updates. I have had this one for almost 3 years, no updates, runs fine.

By not downloading the security updates and the updates for all of the apps that you "bought" when you got your new PC, I think you are doing yourself a disservice.

BUT, in your favor, I believe that are many other people that do it your way and not had a problem.

Good luck to you.

I didn't buy any apps with the computer. But I have saved hundreds of hours of watching the little bar that says, please wait download in progress, then please wait installing software, at least that's what it used to say years ago before I disabled updates.

64 bit computers can run 32 bit programs but not the other way around.

64bit vs 32bit

Think of a 64bit computer as a vehicle with 4wheel drive. The vehicle isn't always in 4wheel drive, but it it nice if you ever hit hard terrain.

The same goes for the 64bit computers. Not all programs run in 64bit mode. So by not doing the updates, you could be harming the overall performance.
