Florida town stunned by news of police KKK ties in Fruitland Park where the Villages plans to add 4,000 residences


A relative who lives in Florida, sent us this bit of news........was not aware the KKK was still alive & well in Florida........truthfully, thought it petered out after the civil rights efforts and race riots of the 1960's.

The beginning of the article depicts the ceremony with the "hoods"; the end of the article mentions that THE VILLAGES is adding 4,000 new residences in Fruitland Park.

These were town police officers in the KKK.

Does the Klan really still exist in Florida? Does the Klan still exist in the deep south, in general???????

As I mention above, never saw that other thread, so this was news to us.

Back in 1965, on a road trip to Miami Beach, Florida from New Jersey, we experienced our first segregated bathrooms in Georgia, segregated water fountains, etc., etc., etc.......

N.J. went through the race riots of the '60s, so it's a long long time ago.......however, was not aware the KKK WAS STILL ACTIVE IN FL.

If the OP last week would have included "KKK" or "Fruitland Park" in their thread title then a general search for the topic would have most likely revealed that it had already been discussed.

"Did anyone see in the news" could be about anything.

What's going on is that it was discovered that two members of their police department were member of the KKK. The whole town is enraged and embarrassed about it even though none of the residents did anything wrong.

The officers have been terminated. That should pretty much be the end of the story.

As far as the KKK being alive and well, there are about 5,000 members in the entire country of 330,000,000 people. I'd say that's more like barely breathing.

You may be surprised where all the klan is still active and if not the Klan there are others by many names... The Arian Brotherhood for one. This is NOT JUST A SOUTHERN THING.
