Question on Club Car and BatteryMinder
 

I have a 2007 Club Car and just bought a BatteryMinder for it. My question is has anyone else installed this unit on a cart like mine? just curious how / where you mounted the plug etc...

I have one and drilled a hole for the plug in the center in front of the seat

I have a 2010 EZGO and bought a Battery Minder from Battery Boys. They installed a 2-prong plug by drilling thru the cart body next to the regular battery plug. Love the Battery Minder. When we leave The Villages for an extended time (2 months) I charge the batteries up the night before with the regular charger, then unplug it and plug in the Battery Minder to maintain a full charge on the batteries for the time we are gone. Batteries are 100% ready to go when we get back.

The Battery Minder also de-sulfurizes the batteries. Sulfur build up over time is a battery killer. IMHO, using a Battery Minder will add 1-2 years or more to your battery life.

Thanks for the replies. I finished installing the plug a little while ago. Went pretty well and looks clean. I put the plug in front also. I'll try and post a couple pics when I get a chance.
Also installed a volt meter. Not one of the led green/yellow/red but an LCD style that shows the voltage. Checked it against my Fluke 77 and is spot on.

Battery Boys installed one for me also. The receptacle is near the big receptacle on the front of the seat support. If I had to do it all over again, I'd have it on the left side of the cart so it would be a little easier to see when plugging in the charger plug.

Our cart will be down in Mesa, AZ and probably not used more than a couple months out of the year. I hoping I can come up with a decent strategy and utilize this thing to help me save my batteries...

Using the Battery Minder is the way you want to go if your cart will not be used for a lengthy period of time. Just charge it up with your regular battery charger to full, then unplug and just keep the Battery Minder on to do its job. Your batteries will be 100% ready to go when you come back and use your golf cart again. That's what I do with my EZGO when I leave The Villages for an extended time (1-3 months).

I have the Battery minder desulfator/maintainer. I wonder if long term (3+) months use might lead to a depletion of the water which might expose the plates? I have not read in the instructions with the unit that this cannot happen. Any thoughts?

I have had Battery Minder now for 8 months, had it installed when replaced batteries. I find having it plugged in all the time, and do limited driving daily, less than 5 to 10 miles, never plugged in my Charger unless I plan to do a 20 mile trip. My batteries haven't needed water yet.

I like the sound of that. With the AZ heat, I think I may have someone take a look every month or so. These are new batteries in this cart also. Would hate to screw them up!
