Golf after 65

My husband and I are new to TV. Both of us worked hard our whole lives and had never played golf. We are currently back in MI and taking golf lessons. How many of you took up golf after you retired to TV? And what percentage of golfers had never touched a club till moving to TV?

Fireboy and I bought a house in 2007. We weren't interested in golf for a lot of years. We backed on a golf course and watched people play daily, rain or shine. And then one day, the light went on. Free golf for life, what a deal. Now we play badly, but enjoy the game a lot. We are careful to play ready golf and never hold anyone up.

We moved here a year ago and my husband and I had never played before but decided to give it a try. He is in his early 70's and I am much closer to 80. We have a grand time, walk the course for the exercise, and we are both improving weekly. We don't hold other folks up and have met some really lovely people playing golf. So, don't be nervous. Enjoy!

There's an advantage to playing golf after you qualify for Medicare: It's easier to shoot your age! When you're 25, you'll never shoot your age. But when you are 81, as I am, it's not nearly as difficult. One of the perks of getting old. Fore!

I never set foot on a golf course until we moved here to the villages. Took lessons, found some starter clubs at a decent price, and went at it. I'm definately glad my mortgage payment is not dependant upon my play.

Thank you taking lessons! There are far too many people here who are convinced they are golfers the day after they buy clubs. Rake the bunkers, fix your ball marks, pick up after 6, keep moving and everyone will love you

My wife and I had never played before we moved here in 2010. We didn't jump right in, but after about 6-8 months, we bit the bullet and took some lessons and bought some clubs and have been enjoying playing every chance we get. Of course, some times are not quite as enjoyable as others.

The trick to playing is always make it a fun time. I have played badly but had a good time in the process. It is never too late to have fun.

I didn't start playing golf until I retired 20 years ago. And since I have moved to TV I shoot consistently in the 80's.............once I hit 80 I walk off the course before it becomes 90:D

I talked my wife into it as she retired well prior to 65. I suggested that she take up golf but she would not buy clubs and jump into it until I did....so I bought a set of clubs also. We did golf occasionally prior to moving to TV and we've taken a few lessons but now that we're here, we try and go out as often as we can. It's never too late to take up a fun activity. Enjoy yourselves. That's what it's all about. It's our time now.

Golf after 65? For me that's usually the twelfth hole.

Never played golf in my life before moving here seven years ago. Took a weeks worth of lessons at Palmer . Bought an inexpensive set of clubs.
Now I play 4-5 times a week.
I don't take it seriously as many around here do. Just play the execs. I'm sorry I didn't start sooner in life. It's fun !
