On top of the World prices compared to The Villages
Even with "The Bond" rolled in, The Villages Prices are competitive with or better than "On Top of the World" prices based on an internet promotion I received from OTOTW this morning.

Re: On top of the World prices compared to The Villages
here's a link to Florida Retirement Forums which Golfnut and I visit and TV is a thread out there. It's mostly the Pringle communities (esp Legacy of Leesburg) but On Top of the World is out there too.
I've talked with some OTOW residents and they're very pleased with the community. I still think TV's amenty package makes the diff, but to each their own. http://www.kelleytown.com/forum/flretire/default.asp |

Their golf prices look pretty high.

Re: On top of the World prices compared to The Villages
We we were down at TV last January, we checked out Rainbow Springs, Summer Glenn, Oak Run and TV. All of these communities have very nice homes and a bigger bang for the buck, however, very little to do and the golf runs approx 4,000 per year, after the membership fee. My decision is TV as soon as my house in Maine is sold.

Re: On top of the World prices compared to The Villages
I have a couple of friends that decided on OTOTW over TV and they are very happy. The amenity fees cover different items than us. They only have two golf courses, one dining place on campus and two pools (I think). It is not an active community like ours. But it is close to Ocala and what they want.
I would not recommend it to people with our life style. |
Re: On top of the World prices compared to The Villages
OTOTW is very nice, and quite typical of the several dozen planned retirement communities in Florida and elsewhere.* They have their requisite club house and pool and golf course or two.* And OTOTW has an advantage over many other formula retirement developments in that they are close to a moderate-sized urban area (Ocala).
The Villages is not a formula development - or at worst, it is a formula development on steroids that morphed into something quite unique.* It is definitely one of a kind in the nation in scale, growth, quality, amenity/activity set, and "sense of community", a rare and highly sought after feature. |
