Pool Noodles & Sunscreen
 

Are you allowed to use pool noodles???? Also, can any of you folks recommend a good sunscreen!!! Thanks for you help.

P.S. Had about 4 inches of snow on Friday up here in Pickering, ON Canada. Hope this is the last of it!!!!!!

I have seen people taking or bringing out pool noodles from all kinds of pools here in TV.

I don't know about pool noodles, so I'd listen to Tal about that.

But I do know about Sunscreens. Anything in the Neutrogena line are good, make sure its at least 35 or 40 SPF and the higher the better, and if you're going to be in the pool a lot, make sure its waterproof. I do think that Bull Frog has one of the best waterproof versions, but check on the brands in the store.

Huge Bullfrog fan here. Since I'm very fair skinned, have had melanoma in the past, I'm very good about using sunscreen. As Kathie said, just get at least a 30 SPF and make sure it's waterproof. I prefer waterproof even if not swimming, especially in Florida because of the humidity and sweat factor.

Yes, pool noodles are allowed. In fact, you will see them twisted and tied into different types of shapes to make lounging in the water more relaxing and, for some of us who are lousy swimmers, to feel more secure.

If you want noodles formed into a chair, the Ace Hardware off 466 used to do it for you. Not sure if they still do since I just do my own using plastic cable ties. I also bought a nylon mesh sling made to slide over the noodle turning it into a pool chair.

Wish I had come up with the foam noodle idea...

I had two bouts with skin cancer and have had so many suspicious moles removed. I do not leave the house unless I have on Neutrogena Ultra Sheer, SPF 70. I use to love sun bathing, but I guess we pay for sins of the past! When I am outside I try to stay well protected, but what really bothers me is driving. The sun is so strong coming thru the car windows. We are thinking about getting the car windows tinted. It was against the law in PA, but I see a lot of cars here with tinted windows.

I'm fair skinned and burn very easily. I have been using sun screen for a long time and usually use one with a high number. Have tried different brands and they all are about the same. One thing to remember is the number is a way for telling on long before you have to apply the sunscreen. A 40 is good for about 45 minutes etc. Another good thing to remember in the sun is sun glasses because of they effect they can have on cataracts.

HB, I've never heard of that brand. I was in the cosmetic industry for hundreds of years (kidding) and I thought I knew every company. Can you tell me more about it? Where's it made? Who markets it? Thanks,

Mik, agree about sunglasses. I have had 2 friends who were sun worshipers years ago and both developed cancer of the retina. Unfortunately, one passed away from it but the other caught it in time and is doing okay but is very cautious about exposure.

MS, I think your smart with the SPF 70. I remember when our research proved that we could claim 70 and we celebrated a lot. That's a very high number and considering back 20 years ago, we could only get as high as 7 or 8. We we've made tremendous advances, unfortunately the sunblock ingred is terribly expensive that's why some retail prices are so high.

I can't believe all of these people are giving you this bad information!!!
You CANNOT use noodles in any of the villages pools , You can't use PASTA of any kind here , this includes macaroni , ravioli , spaghetti "O"s , hamburger helper, etc, etc... I'm not sure about lasagna..but you can check it when you get here ....Trust me , you will have fun and you will lose weight...........

Kathie...I'm not HB but here's some info about No-Ad...

It is manufactured in Miami by Solar Cosmetics Labs. I have used it for years (we live on a chain of lakes and do a lot of summer boating) and have been very pleased. It offers SPF up to 50 including sunscreen for babies.

What I like about No-Ad is that you get twice the product for the same cost of the more recognized brands. I am fair skinned and burn easily so need to be careful in the sun, too. I use a lot of sunscreen.

I buy No-Ad at Wal-mart here in Michigan, however, it's website says it's also sold at Publix, Kmart, Albertsons, Winn Dixie, CVS, Rite Aid, to name only the places I think are in or near TV.

At the Country Club pools the noodles are a no no.

Fumar, with that type of noodle, if you need a lunch break, or a snack, you can eat your swelled up noodle and then start with a fresh one.

Lasagna, I thought those were used for floating lounges in the pools. I heard you had to weave them together to the size you want. :)
