many moons ago someone posted on TOTV the correct settings to use when trying to get a modem to work with a CenturyLink internet connection

if anyone has these settings, grateful if they would reply here or PM them to me

Just found them in a Search. In case anyone else needs them, AJ32162 posted the following:

Try these setting. You need to set them manually. They work fine for my Netgear modem.

Basic settings:
1. No
2. Blank
3. Get dynamically fron ISP
4. Get automatically from ISP
5. Enabled
6. Use default address

ADSL Settings
1. LLC - Based
2. VPI 8
3. VCI 35
