Tiger quits @ Bridgestone

More quits by Tiger than any golfer I remember over the years watching televised golf.

I suspect a contributor is or could be he is not measuring up to his expectation and that could take a mental/physical toll.

It let's the announcers, again, us on the front runners!

Came back too soon. But I'm not a Tiger fan.

I would think with all the physical therapist, spiritual(?), psychological and all other asdvisors he would not come out too early and embarass himself and the "game".

That leaves his biggest challenge is to get calibrated to his current capability......which has little to do with his earlier career achievements as the past is the past. Sometimes more distant than some will acknowledge.

He was in a lot of pain from back spasms when he left the golf course yesterday.

Tiger no tiger anymore. Old alleycat that can't cut it anymore.

Edjkoz 08-03-2014 04:55 PM

I think much of this is in his head. He is not living up to his expectations

Hope he doesn't become the next Doug Ford, hanging around and using lifetime exemptions for, well...a lifetime.

Maybe some of the other golfers can get some air time now. Seems like they show the top 2 or 3 guys and Tiger no matter how far he is behind. Never a fan,he had lots of talent before throwing his coach and caddy under the bus. All of the greats had talent and respect for the game, I believe he has lost both.

D&Lsunfun 08-03-2014 06:52 PM

could it be karma?
also coming back to the game too soon after surgery.
tiger was back in florida talking to his doctor.
can't blame the doctor, it is a healing process and takes a year or more.

village dreamer 08-03-2014 07:08 PM

tiger who?????

billethkid 08-04-2014 04:16 AM

this event should make Tom Watson's decision making easier and DO NOT include Tiger in the British Open .....I think the only person in golf who thinks he should be in it is Tiger!

More distant? He won 5 TIMES last season. He has won MORE tournaments since the last Ryder cup than anyone! He was number 1 heading into last year's playoffs. he was 1st on the President's cup qualifier list last year. He won the Vardon trophy for low scoring average on tour last year (I think he has won this something like 10 times!). This is just last year not "more distant than some will acknowledge". Or are my facts wrong?

He has struggled in the majors for sure and perhaps his body has let him down at this point. The timeline for his back problems stems back to last year's PGA which was almost 1 year ago. But it's not his capability.

They only show the top few guys in any tournament. Yesterday you saw EVERY shot from Rory and Sergio with only a few from the others. BUT that is what we want - to see the battle for the championship, not the battle for 5th. Yes, they show Tiger more than the average Joe when he's not at the top but that's what the people want to see. Just look at the ratings when Tiger is near the top of a tournament. It isn't debatable.

I think that this Tiger bashing has a strong basis in racism! Do you that bash him because of his lecherous ways also condemn and boycott the dozens of Hollywood stars who seem to play revolving door with their relationships? Would you disown your family members if they cheat on their wife and get a divorce? Did you bash other golfers who cheated on their wives and married a golf groupie they met at some tournament or outing (look it up!)? 50% of all new marriages end in divorce and I would bet that many of those divorces were preceded by an affair. Get over it or just don't comment on it.

Thank you for having the guts to comment on that Russ. I have a feeling a lot of the Tiger bashing is latent racism, as is the Obama bashing, but of course no one would ever admit it.
