Veteran Organizations

My husband and I are new to The Villages and are told that there are a few clubs for military veterans here. My husband is retired Navy, and I served one tour in the Navy. We know about VFWs and American Legion, etc. We're looking for groups within The Villages. I've scanned through the Daily Sun but can't seem to find any reference to military groups. Could someone here advise as to what groups there are, and who the points of contact are? Thanks.

Closest FRA chapter is in Inverness. I've always wondered why no chapter here. There are several Navy softball teams.

Also keep in mind that many clubs go on break during the summer due to folks traveling.

If either or both of you are former or retired commissioned or warrant officers, the Lake & Sumter Counties Chapter - MOAA [Military Officers Association of America] will welcome you with open arms. Next meeting at Tierra del Sol Country Club, Wed 09/10 0830.

Thank you. We were both enlisted.

As the son of a retired chief who has been a member of the Fleet Reserve Assoc since 1963, I hope that you are both members of FRA (and if not, I encourage you to join). Seems to me that it would be nice to have a chapter here (which, unfortunately, won't help my dad since he is now bed ridden in a nursing home).
