Has anyone planted a pecan tree in their yard?

I am thinking of replacing a lime tree that is currently in my yard with a pecan tree. Just curious if anyone else has a pecan tree. They are so beautiful, more than I can say for the lime tree. Can one pecan tree produce by itself or does it take several for pollination? Pecans are a lot better eating than limes too.

I saw one in Ocala a year ago, real big, and pecans on the ground

Sometimes nut production noticeably decreases- if winters are not cold enough or summers are extra rainy.
It is a deciduous tree and grows really large- means lots of leaf raking in Autumn.

Can your yard accommodate a large tree

I have plenty of room for one tree and a pecan tree is no larger than the oaks that surround us. The oaks also have lots of leaves. The link above suggests planting more than one tree for good pollination, but since I don't really care if I get lots of pecans, that's not really a deterrent either. They are such a beautiful tree so I'm going to see if I can plant one and get rid of the lime tree. Thanks for your comments.
