batteries- 4X12 or 8X6?

Any thoughts on changing from 4-12 Volt to 8-6 Volt batteries when time to get batteries?:$:

Definitely not 4-12. I have an EZGO with 6-8 which is the most they can fit in. Never had any issues and my guess is that my range is 50-60 miles. With that said 8-6 would be my first choice, but EZGO was my first choice in carts.

if you are talking about "switching" the existing cart from 4 to 6 you will find it is an expensive task. SOmewhere north of $1000 plus the new batteries.
Requires new battery mountings and a new controller.

The 6 will hold a charge longer....relative to use and chargings.

Agree. I checked and decided that the 4X12 were okay. Since the farthest I go in the cart is about 10 miles round trip, I am okay with the 4X12. That 10 miles takes me to SS and LSL. I would get lost going any farther.

You do not need a new controller

I have had good luck with putting in 8G31 Deka gels. No water to check no gassing to corrode battery post. It is what is in the Gem cars.

8 - 6 volt batteries is the best configuration. I was informed they have a range of 50 to 60 miles. Went to Brownwood and back, stopping at LSL on the way back and my needle did not move from fully charged, (estimated 30 to 35 mile trip). That's the longest trip I would ever need.

Modifying the frame of the cart would cost a few bucks, but the new batteries would be the major expense. I also had an automatic water refilling system for the batteries installed, and I find it very convenient.

I would recommend getting a "batteryminder", to slowly charge the battery for trips under 15 miles, and it desulfates the battery, at the same time. Hardly ever use the heavy duty charger as that will make the batteries need distilled water.

Hoping the above will make my batteries last 5 years, instead of the standard three.

Run great and I am one of those people who don't like the smell of fumes, but that's another thread..........
