Are there any Joni Mitchell and James Taylor fans out there?
Are there any artists who play locally that have that kind of sound, soul and wit?
In college we used to go to a “coffee house” in the basement of a church. The “coffee house” called itself “The Goldbug”. Every week we were entertained with a singer/songwriter style of music from college kids who enjoyed singing and playing guitar. Almost all of the songs were written by other artists. Is there anyplace like “The Goldbug” in the area? Joni and James do you live here too? :) |
Two locals that are as talented as two of the greatest singer / song writers that ever lived??
I am thinking ...... no, sadly no. oh, and sadly no also to any place local as cutting edge hip & cool as the "coffee houses" of that era. |
I am a huge James Taylor fan and have been since I was a teen. I did get to see him in concert when we lived in Dayton, Ohio and he came to the Fraze Pavillion. We also saw the Beach Boys and Chicago there which was awesome. I tune my Pandora radio to James Taylor and listen to him all the time. Don't know of anyone at the squares like him, but maybe someone else might.

No one I knew was as talented as the two greatest singer/songwriters that ever lived. But there are many people in my generation that play acoustic guitar and sing. I was hoping a few of them live here. It’s good to hear that even 40 years later “The Goldbug” is edgey. |
My 1st wife sang just like Joni, but I still love Joni! Don't forget Livingston.

Love James Taylor. Joni not so much.
I saw a great husband and wife acoustic duo at Eaton's Beach a few weeks ago. They did a wide variety of styles and were very, very good. He plays guitar and she mostly plays a big African drum but also occasionally plays guitar. Sorry that I can't remember their name, but maybe someone on here can. |
Mystic Ice Cream would be a great venue for folk music. I understand they now have a coffee/expresso bar.

My wife has always been a classical music and opera fan. I've always enjoyed rock, blues and jazz. We found our first common musical ground while listening to Joni Mitchell's BLUE album which remains a favorite to this day for both of us. https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...lue+full+album
