Inexpensive G E home water filter system
 

We have a small amount of odor in our water and considering installing the inexpensive Home Depot GE system. Not interested in a softener or anything like that. Anyone have experience with these systems?

How long have you lived there. When we moved in, our house had been vacant for several months and the water had a terrible chlorine smell. It would even irritate your skin in the shower. I installed a cheap whole house filter from Lowes with the charcoal element. I put another charcoal filter on the shower. I had less than $100 into both. After a couple of months, the smell went away. We are just thinking that the chlorine setting in the pipes had a lasting effect that usage took care of. I installed the filters in December and have never replaced the cartridges and we have no smell.
