carotid artery surgery
 

I have a friend who's husband will need carotid artery surgery following a stroke.
Has anyone had experience with this in Florida?
Can anyone recommend a Dr. or a place for this surgery?
I am thinking Shand's in Gainesville or Mayo in Jacksonville, possibly.

I would appreciate any help anyone can provide.

My husband is currently a patient in Ocala Regional Medical Center due to a Traumatic Brain Injury. He is in the surgical ICU. THIS IS AN AMAZING hospital. I would take any family member there without hesitation. I had never heard of this hospital before the ambulance took him there. Many of the doctors there are from Shands.

Thanks for your response. My friend is trying to get her husband to Shands due to a specific surgery needed, but I have heard good things about Ocala. I live in Sanibel also. Prayers and good wishes for your husband!

My husband had it done about 3 yrs ago..He was referred to Dr. Finol here in the Villages...EXCELLENT Dr. really loved this man...great bed side manner and explains the surgery very well...very caring as well
