Golf Cart and the Cell Phone

I just saw the thread about the Villages GPS App. Mom and I don't have our golf cart yet and the App made me think of my cell phone, an iPhone 5s. Can you have a cell phone charger installed on your cart? I don't remember seeing any way to charge a cell phone on any of the carts we have rented.

Just curious for now!

If they can install a cigarette lighter, don't see why they couldn't install a charger but I know I wouldn't want or use it if I had one. Knowing me, I'd be charging my phone and leave it plugged in while I did whatever. Odds of having phone or charger in my cart when I return would be on the slim side. Other issue would be getting caught in an unexpected storm. I doubt the water would be good for a plugged-in phone. To me, some conveniences aren't worth the risk.

I had the equivalent of a cigarette lighter installed on my cart before it was delivered. I just use the USB adapter and keep a cord on the cart. When I'm away, I put the adapter and cord either in my purse or the locked compartment.

Great idea! Thanks. I will add that to the accessories I want on our cart!

I don't use my cell phone a lot but any use does drain my battery. I thought if I used the GPS App a lot I might need a charger! I do have a portable charger but I would hate to leave it in the cart.

When we were in TV in May, I drove my car to a party just so I would have the GPS!

We had the same installed and you can charge anything from the USB adaptor.

I also have a Bluetooth speaker that fits in my cup holder so I can play the music from my phone I charge it with the USB, too.

Look up "cell phone battery pack" on Amazon and you will get a list of external battery packs which will give you a quick charge. Work great! (I keep one in my backpack for theme parks, hikes, and other events.)

Will it work if you have an Otterbox Defender case on your phone? A friend said the one he bought wouldn't.

It uses the same type USB cord that your charger does.

I have an OtterBox case and it works fine. I'm not sure if it is a Defender though.

Yep. USB is standard. Oh, and I have an iPhone, too. I have cords and plugs in two houses, our rv, and in my car, too.
