Community Watch at Gates

For the last few days there has been community watch trucks at both St. Charles Place at Buena Vista. There may be other trucks at other gates but these are the 2 I saw. Does anyone know what they are doing there?

They just installed one of the new cameras at the St Charles entrance to St James. Maybe something to do with that? Possible making sure it's working properly. I did notice the Community Watch guy was checking out each vehicle very carefully as it went out. Just my $0.02.

I noticed them too, just wished they would park elsewhere whatever they were doing. I was in my cart and it was hard to see crossing traffic around the Community Watch pickup trucks!

I think that they come and give the gate attendant at bathroom break.

There is no gate guard there.

OK...just talked to one of the CW guys....

The reason they are at the gates is to facilitate folks getting through the gates to the voting places. Seems Allamanda Rec. Center is a polling place and people from outside the Villages have to go there to vote. According to the one guy I talked to, there had been some complains that folks weren't able to get through the gates to their designated polling place. So, the Board of Elections mandated that there be someone at those unattended gates until all of the polling is completed.

That answer was quicker than asking on TOTV.

Well, there goes my theory.

Occasionally I see a truck at the gate coming into the the historic district and a different guy in the little shed. I always assumed that they were just giving the guard a bathroom break.
