Actually, I think this win was for coming in second for one of the predictions.

It is just a copy of the DVD Beowulf. In July 2007 or so, I won for predicting the box office take of Transformers. That was just a License to Wed poster. http://www.the-numbers.com/interacti...hp?newsID=2700

This "win" was for predicting the box office take of Horton Hears a Who. Think I picked $42,200,000.

Have not seen this movie yet though and really like Jim Carrey and Steve Carell.

Tal - you won the HD DVD of Beowulf. Keep it in the package - it'll be a collector's item some day. That and 8-track tapes.

First three letters of names of three people dear to me. The Beatles-- George, John, Ringo, and Paul-- would be Geojohrinpau, for instance.

You guys and gals should try the-Numbers contests. They have one about every week for who can come closest to the weekend box office take for a particular movie. This week, for instance, the contest was for predicting the weekend box office draw for Drillbit Taylor. It is now closed. They close them for entries around 10 am in the morning Pacific Time FRiday morning before the movie usually opens on the West Coast. You usually do not get to see the movie, though, before making a prediction on how it will do which is a huge drawback.

This weekend will be different because of the Easter holiday and the NCAA tournaments. Weather can be a factor too I guess. These are fun to do. I have been making these predictions for a few years but have only won twice and those are in the past 8 months or so.

Re: Won again. Wah hoo! The-Numbers contest. 2nd time in 12 months.

Received an e-mail from The-Numbers.com contest person Friday so I guess I really did come third closest to the actual opening weekend box office draw for Horton Hears a Who. Thought there could be two people with my first name and last name's first initial in the Villages who entered these contests but was very doubtful of that. Lots of Johns in the Villages. :joke:

You guys and gals should try entering. It's fun and doubt if any prize is going to put you in another tax bracket.

Re: Won again. Wah hoo! The-Numbers contest. 2nd time in 12 months.

I sure was off on my estimate of what Drillbit Taylor would make over the Easter weekend. This was its first box office weekend and it looks like it only earned 10.2 million. Kind of hard to make predictions for movie before you see it. The Internet Movie Database estimates this Drillbit movie had a budget of 40 million.

Re: Won again. Wah hoo! The-Numbers contest. 2nd time in 12 months.

Can see why Drillbit Taylor did not do all that well at the box office this past weekend. Not a very good movie and I saw it at the Old Mill Playhouse with only about 10 people in the biggest auditorium at OMP which holds about 300 people.

This weekend's The-Numbers.com contest is for the movie Superhero!. Entries are due by 10 a.m. Pacific Time Friday, March 28, 2008.
