Latest burglary just posted

A break-in in the Village of Fernandina is under investigation by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Forcible entry was made to a home in the 1100 block of Hollyhock Way between 4 and 9 p.m. Friday.
Once inside, thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was stolen, according to Lt. Nehemiah Wolfe of the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office is seeking the public’s help in the investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff’s annex at 689-4600.

Before anyone gets excited I am not going to declare The Villages a high crime area unless and until there is a golf cart hijacking:D

Can you please clarify the statement below: it appears the whole system is free....
Our company uses the absolute best equipment available for residential security today. The basic system costs you nothing, the install is free, and we don't charge you any activation fees. Oh, and also we warranty the equipment for LIFE. Our techs are the best in the business, NICET and UL certified, and as such most of our customers get a discount on their home owners insurance.
What is your communication media, I am not interested in cell phone as it is somewhat iffy, I prefer a landline. Does your system handle external hardwired contacts? Do you have the capability for hardwired and / or radio controlled arm/disarm? Do you have the capability to remote monitor? Do you support video recording?

The villages is what most people would consider an "affluent" community with a high percentage of home owners not residing there during the day or even for multiple months at a time. I am partnered with Tom from the villages AV, and have been a contractor in the Villages for the last 3 years. Here is the MO:

Your homes are being scouted, every day, by these non local "contractors" they have figured out your habits, they know who and who is not secured, they can tell if you have a "do it yourself" alarm system, a professional system, or no system at all. The people without systems are the targets. The "do it yourself" security people are targets as well because of how easy that equipment is to defeat. I've done home security for over 10 years, from simple burglary systems to multi-million dollar CCTV, Burg, and fire suppression systems, i know what i'm talking about.

I already have several customers in the villages, and they are all very happy with the custom designed systems we have offered them. You can control everything from your smart phone, or we can just give you a keyfob to make things easier if you don't want to go that route.

AND WE ARE LOCAL, i myself live off 44, 6 minutes from brownwood.

We have an A+ BBB and Angies list rating, that should tell you something about our company right there.

Don't leave your life safety to chance. You have worked your entire lives to get here, give yourself some peace of mind.

here are some links with videos on our company, our system, and actual reviews from our clients.

Why should I go with you rather than ADT for example ?

Papa Cuma 09-10-2014 02:05 PM

And who does the monitoring? That is most important.

Help us understand how they are easy to defeat...especially the systems that use GSM/Cellphone technology.... and why your system is different...otherwise it would appear that your post is simply free advertising...

Monitoring fees? Ball park figure.

When I read about a burglary, I really don't want to read a sales pitch.

I want to know how the people who broke in KNEW someone had thousands of dollars of jewelry. We don't. I know some people do but lots don't.

Who has been in the home that knew what to steal?

ditka41 09-10-2014 02:38 PM

IF there was a break-in, it's a sad commentary that "security providers" would jump on the situation and turn it into a commercial within a few minutes.

Shouldn't the real focus be on who did it, what the sheriff is doing about it, etc, rather than how somebody immediately wants to turn a profit because of it? Very weird!

graciegirl 09-10-2014 02:44 PM

ANd since it was between four and nine, how did the perp know when they would be gone? We keep a calendar on our fridge, many do. Who read it?

You can guard up..sure. But find the trash who did it. We had a rash of burglaries last fall and early this year and law enforcement caught 13 rascals and there was peace and quiet for awhile.... Now we have a similar one, in the very area that the first ones were. Are the same thugs out again?

Be careful who you hire. We don't have anyone to clean our house and I feel safer. Pool people? Grass cutters? They come and go.

Our system would immediately detect a supervision loss, report to the station, you would be called. If you weren't home we would again attempt communication with our sensors. If supervision of multiple sensors were down we and there was no reason we would Dispatch. Also you aren't getting a discount on your homeowners insurance with DIY unless you are a licensed installer and use a UL listed panel.

Thanks for you explanation...and service.

The system I have detects a loss in supervision, too.

What is the address of your monitoring center (I am guessing it is New Jersey)? I would like to have associates inspect it.

That's good.....just the nearest address to The Villages will be enough then.
