Obama - Yes We Can - Saturday March 29th, Oxford Community Center
There will be an Obama - Yes We Can - rally Saturday, March 29th, at the Oxford Community Center from 2-5 PM. Come and join like-minded Obama supporters. There will be a speaker, bumper stickers and other kinds of Obama "stuff". All interested Democrats, Independents and disenchanted Republicans are invited.
For more information contact: Alan Schwartz 259-7742; Nancy Bell 750-5446; or Sue Michalson 259-1426. The Oxford Community Center is 1 block south and east of 466 and 301. Going east on 466, cross rail tracks and turn left (south)...same street as Bella Lighting |

Tis a shame we can't have rallies like this in TV itself. I was speaking to a member of the Democrat club last November. He told me that they had asked to use rooms, centers, the Squares for fund raising and Democratic political rallies and were refused access by the developer, who (as we know) are very pro-Republican. This just doesn't seem right to me.
In the meantime, thanks for the info, especially the detailed directions for those of us who are directionally challenged. |
Re: Obama - Yes We Can - Saturday March 29th, Oxford Community Center
Do Republicans get to use rooms, centers and squares for fund raising and Republican political rallies?

Next silly question Tony.

Re: Obama - Yes We Can - Saturday March 29th, Oxford Community Center
What Democratic Presidential candidates have campaigned in TV or anywhere around it? What Democratic Presidents have attempted to come to TV?

Re: Obama - Yes We Can - Saturday March 29th, Oxford Community Center
Muncle, the guy I was talking to said no fundraisers in the centers, no rallies, EVER. So, the fact that the Dems basically boycotted Florida this year is irrelevant. We have no idea if any candidates or Democratic Presidents have ever requested to come to TV in the past. What is known (and I did do some checking) is that Democrats cannot use TV property for any type of a fundraiser. To me, this ranks up there with the time when Jan wanted to run an ad thanking TOTVers for being patient when the site was running slow and his ad was flat out rejected by The Daily Sun. It. is. just. not. right!

I know the Republican clubs have had functions, including Lincoln Day Dinners, but I do not recollect any fund raisers being held. There may have been some, but I don't remember any. The political rallies in the squares for the big names prior to the elections are a given, but I would suspect that the smaller stuff was authorized as functions of legitimate clubs and would be available to anyone who could show a need. Legally, it would have to be or TV management could be open to complaints to the Federal Election Commission. Fund raising is a different matter entirely.
And yes, the Developer is a big GOP supporter. He's a very intelligent man, so that seems natural. |

And the Developer is merely the son-in-law of the man that really had the creativity and foresight to put TV together . . . and we really don't know his political persuasion, do we. :-* |

Chelsea, based on your posts, you sound like the "insane man that says everyone's crazy but me!" Schwartz started TV but he was long gone when the current staff developed the current Villages. The current staff has created something unmatched in this country. Your rants against conservatives are way overboard. Get a grip.

I believe that H. Gary Morse is the son of the late Harold Schwartz. I also believe that many members of the "Family" are strong Republican Party supporters as evidenced by their publicaly disclosed financial contributions to RNC.

Sounds to me like TV is very similar to Jonestown, maybe it should be called Jonestown North

JJDEES: I suggest you get a grip. I was teasing Muncle who I consider a friend of mine and frankly it's none of your business. If you don't like my posts, simply don't read them. This is still Amercia and I have a right to my opinion. ;)
