CY's: Stucco or Siding??
 

We're thinking of going with a CY Villa, and are interested in your thoughts: Pros/Cons of Siding or Stucco....

Concrete Block/Stucco (CBS) vs. Frame/Vinyl Siding

In reviewing the archives on this subject I note the following pros and cons:

Concrete Block/Stucco:
- more expensive
+ probably better in a hurricane (although built to same standards as frame)
- more maintenance - paint every 5-7 years
- only available on more expensive Designer/Premier homes
+ "Florida look"
+ lower insurance
+ less prone to termites but with spraying probably not a factor for either style

Frame/Vinyl Siding
+ probably better insulating value
- may have more damage after a hurricane (although built to same standards as CBS)
+ less expensive
+ less maintenance - power wash - 2-3 times per year
- greater chance of construction problems - vinyl siding, etc.

After considering the above, it comes down to personal prference.

Have I missed anything?

OMG Johnny you beat me by seconds and we both said the same thing. Only you answered like a guy direct and to the point and me, well I am totally female lots of research and lots of words. ;D

One correction in the research - There are villas that are available in CBS as well.

As a survivor of Hurricane Andrew August 23, 1992, I wouldn't live in any house in Florida if it wasn't CBS ;D

P.S. I've never experienced a tornado, but if one came to visit...... I'd feel a whole lot safer in a CBS house around me ::)
