Tommy Bahama coming to The Villages

My wife is so excited. Something new in TV. Maybe it will start a trend. Locating in Brownwood.

Is Tommy buying a home in Lake Deaton?

A Tommy Bahama what? Restaurant? Clothing? Or as GG says a guy moving in?;)

Tommy Bahama is an island look retail store. They sell clothes, indoor and outdoor furnishings, and accessories. Costco sells their beach chairs and umbrellas. They last forever and take a beating.

I love Tommy Bahama furnishing, but not always in the budget. Clothing may work in FL, not so much in PA. It would be an interesting addition to The Villages.

I like their clothes. I had found a real good men's cologne they had but they only made a limited supply.

More details, please! Is it a restaurant, clothing store, or both? And where is it being built. And when does it open?

A great idea but not sure if it's a rumor, as they run around here a lot.

I guess it is not a rumor since it was in this morning's paper. It is clothing and related goods. Location looked like next to Ricciardi's. I believe they said opening in December. Should be a great addition to Brownwood!!

I prefer Tommy Chong

I'll probably visit them once every seven years.

They have a Tommy Bahama section in the Florida Mall's Macys store. His Hawaiian shirts are probably what they're known most for, and at Macys they retail for about $115. Once last year I saw they had a couple of racks for 50% off, still expensive. They sell his cologne at Belks at Spanish Springs, I remember getting a sample there one time.

The newspaper article said this new store will be about 3600 sf and even have a few his furnishings available. It appears to be located between 5 Guys and Ricciardis by that gift shop.

Better have big sales. Retail prices ain't go'na fly.

I've been in lots of Tommy Bahama stores. Love the look. Can't justify the prices. I am not worth $100 and up shirts.

I think villagers aren't the only shoppers the developers want to attract. During the major holidays, gift shopping here is huge. Adult children and college/older grandchildren would love to receive Christmas or other gifts from Tommy Bahamas, and it's this type of retailer that will help to attract them to come and visit and shop.

Outside shoppers from the area will like it, too. Thirty-somethings I met in Ocala a few weeks ago said they LOVE T.V. and they come here to shop regularly, and go out for dinner and to dance at the squares. They are needed to boost sales during the slow off-season months.

Good points

i understand that it is a tommy bahama outlet, which should mean that the prices will be below those in the company-owned stores such as at the mall at millenia in orlando.
the term outlet does not necessarily mean that it is the same merchandise as in the retail stores, and a lot of times it is goods made specifically for the outlet locations. or merchndise from a previous season or from internet sales.
either way i have too much clothing now, so i doubt if i need anything.
