Anti-Islamic adds coming to NYC transit system

Anti-Islamic adds will appear on 100 NYC buses and 2 subway entrances. This will happen in less than a week.

This is bold. There will be pictures of James Foley before he was beheaded, as he stood next to his executioner.

I think this should be big news but was only reported as a News Brief on the bottom of a back page in the Daily sun.

Has anyone heard any talk about it in the news?

My opinion of it? I think it's much needed to wake people up about the threat we face from terrorism.

What do you think?

If the beheadings themselves, the rhetoric shouted, the annihilation of other Muslim tribes isn't enough to scare people, I sincerely doubt that any ad will make a bit of difference.

I think NYC already had their wake up call on 9/11/2001.

But they've gone back to sleep, if you catch my drift.:cus:

Perhaps I should include the following: The ad campaign will supposedly tell the truth about Islam and Jihad that the mainstream media is ignoring.

Two subway entrances isn't a lot but who is paying for this?

Sometimes I feel some of those anti-Islamic ads are being run on TOTV. To generalize a whole religion, race or culture is to stigmatize or be inflammatory. Of course, America has a history of that whether its the Irish, Pollocks, WOPs , chinks, Japs, blacks or Jews.

Would that make a difference?

It's not just two subway entrances, it's 100 busses.

Yes, to me it does make a difference who is paying for it. It's not like are blanketing the city with coverage.

From what I understand, they are not going to generalize, they are going to be specific. This is going to be about terrorists who claim to be doing what they do in the name of religion.

The ads are paid for by the American Freedom Defense Initiative run by anti-Islam blogger Pamela Geller. She started doing it in response to anti-Isreal ads paid for by American Muslims for Palestine, run by Dr. Hatem Bazian, a University of California-Berkeley professor.

Then you will say it's political - thread closed! Can't we just discuss it on it's merits?

Thanks, I knew who it was but I didn't know why she started it.

I don't think this at all. I believe the vast majority of people on TOTV have nothing against Muslims except in the case where extremists threaten their country's and their people's safety. I think most are curious about the Muslim way of life and thinking. I believe most think extremists of any religion are people who cause division not the coming together in peace and hArmony. I think if a regular non violent Muslim lived next door they could easily be a good friend just like anyone else.

I would hope so, but some are very afraid.
