Brownwood Horse Carriage Rides

I saw in a magazine that Brownwood has Horse Carriage Rides from 6-9 pm on some Fridays and Saturdays. Has anyone tried this? What is the price, duration? Was it worthwhile?

Nice to see the Horses doing what they love to do.

Oh boy, can hardly wait for the horse poop threads, they will be coming. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I saw the carriage rides a few weekends ago and it looked like a fun thing to do. The horses were beautiful and add a touch of charm to Brownwood, they fit right in with the theme.

We used to call the donations from the Horses "ROAD APPLES"

What did you call them in Your Neck of the Woods ?/

I'm going to assume that I forgot to hit the post button in my previous response on this topic.

IMO(and the opinion of many horse people)this is cruel, barbaric and unnecessary. However, if they insist upon doing this I hope they set giudelines for the well-being of the horses. I hope they have a cutoff on the allowable temperature, proper shoeing for pavement pounding and not have the same horses doing it both days.

I wouldn't assume they love doing it, horses are like big dogs, they do things out of trust and love whether it's warranted or not.

I would pay $10 to see a person pulling the loaded trailer.

Thank you Patty - have to agree. It's one thing to see a horse pulling a piece of equipment on a working farm - yet another to see a horse pulling a bunch of people around for their enjoyment. I hate the way we exploit these animals for "fun".

Now this is a bit hypocritical. According, to your beliefs it should never be okay to see a horse pulling farm equipment. That too can be considered inhumane to the animal.

Nowhere to really go on the ride cover it all just looking for parking spot.

Guess there is no need to save a seat on the Cowboy Party Bus.

38 cruel and barbaric horse lovers are going to Florida Ranch Rodeo.
It won't be our First Rodeo.

This is an open invite to The Ocala Breeder Sales Fall Mixed Sale
of Race Age Horses. Anyone can buy these horses.
Bring plenty of $$$$$.

Anyone can save these horses from a horrible
life of living in Multi-Million Dollar Stables, eating
the finest feed and Hay along with getting
daily exercise on their private tracks.
These poor horses also have to endure twice weekly massages and
daily comb outs after their warm water showers.

The only problem I have with the "Cowboy Party Bus" group is I don't do buses-LOL. I have no problem with Western horses, no problem with the activities as long as they are maintained properly and don't overdo it till the animals back end is totally shot.

A few years back we had a pony that loved doing team penning, he finally got to chase something around and not have it try to kick or bite him.

I'm also not so crazy about the western show outfits, other than that, no problemo.

Do you really not see a difference between a properly maintained performance horse and a carriage horse?

perrjojo 09-26-2014 06:21 AM

It's not really a carriage ride. We saw them last week and it looks more like a hayride wagon.

gomoho 09-26-2014 08:43 AM

Y'all just don't get it. Don't do rodeos or the circus or the zoo. Tired of humans abusing animals for entertainment. Have no problem with a horse working to help humans accomplish a goal - entertainment is no one of those goals I can support. Just one person's opinion. Not right - not wrong, but just how I feel.

The topic was information on the Carriage Rides at Brownwood.

So many off topic replies about using horses for this purpose.
