Dust?

Where does it come from?.....We just took down luggage from the high shelves of our closet and the dust was so thick that I had to use a shop vac to remove it. Shoes that haven't been used for more than a year were the same.
Our A/C filter is rated above what is recommended. I wish someone could help with a solution.

ME TOO!!!!!!! We always had air cleaners with our furnaces up north, but they were gas furnaces. I've been told there's no such thing for this all-electric gizmo we have here, unless we want to install a $1000 allergy system.

I've never lived in a place with so much dust, even in the downtown of a big city. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

when all the construction between 466 and Lake Sumter Landing.....10 years ago when nothing there and we built our home......I used to think when the construction moves further south it will get better.

The construction has been gone for more than 5 years and there is no change in the amount of dust/dirt in the air....both inside and for sure outside.

There is no doubt what so ever the air around TV is the dirtiest we have ever lived in....EVER!

Have the home pressurized to ONE and One Quarter Atmospheres.

Can you be more specific with details, who does it, etc?

I agree

I've NEVER lived anywhere else with a dust problem like we have here....Unbelievable! Have to dust everyday....I've had ducts checked for leaks, A/C checked, all with no problem...Would love solution to this problem.

So glad someone posted about the constant dust in the house! I too am shocked at the film on furniture. I have air cleaners that pick up some but need to use my swifter on fans weekly. Will be happy to learn why this happens. I lived in farm country with plowings ,haying and never had so much dust in my home as I do here. We take off our shoes before entering home but this does not seem to cut down the collection.

I thought it was just us. Never saw so much dust in the house. What to do. I hate dusting.

I agree about the excess dust, but, in our case it is really noticeable in the master bedroom. Not so much in the guest room or living area. So, is it us and our old flaky skin and all the bed/towel linens in the bedroom?

jebartle 09-26-2014 07:31 AM

I was wondering

Do you think tile and hardwood floors is the reason? We have all tile.

Bonnevie 09-26-2014 08:11 AM

I have the same type floors as I had in my old house and I, too, and amazed at the amount of dust here.

We are new here and the wife and I though it was because of the new construction or just our home. So i guess it is a common problem with no solution.

My wife will be so glad to hear she is not loony tunes. She constantly is vacuuming and dusting and I thought she was overdoing it but I guess she is right.

I too am amazed at the dust that magically settles all over the place in these houses - I'm at least glad I'm not the only one in this predicament. I don't know where it comes from but I remember our real estate agent telling me that fine sand and dust is prevalent here and not to get hardwood floors because of this issue.

No. Tile and hardwood floors would only expose the dust more as compared to carpeting which hides it. I have mostly carpets and have dust everywhere. I lived most of my life in S. Florida and usually had tile everywhere and never had the dust we have here.
