How Far Would You Travel to go to Church on Sunday?

I recently attended a Church that took 90 minutes by car to get too. That made me wonder how far people travel to go to Church on Sunday.

How far would you travel to attend church every Sunday?
1 Not more than 5 miles or 10 minutes by car
2 More than 5 miles but less than 10 miles or 20 minutes by car
3 More than 10 miles but less than 15 miles or 30 minutes by car
4 More than 15 miles but less than 60 miles or 60 minutes by car

My wife and I just moved into our home 8 days ago but we had chosen a church on earlier visits that is about 15 minutes by car and about 28 minutes by cart. There are other churches much closer but the pastors, the feel and the programs offered by our chosen church is easily worth the extra time. So I guess my answer is about 1/2 hour, perhaps more if need be to get to the church of my choice.

I would say as far as it takes to find a church that "fits you best".
We tried 1 mega church but felt like cattle being shuttled in and out. Someone suggested another big church just outside the Villages (about a 20min ride by car) and it was working out great. Then, this spring/summer, the leaders of the church did something that defied the teachings of any church. We will no be going back there.
My wife found another church just outside the Villages with a wonderful preacher who isn't "mailing it in" and we are enjoying this church. Travel time is about 24minutes.
Not sure I'd be interested in traveling over 1hr, each way, to attend a church.

As long as it takes to get away from the meGa churches and the financial "drag" that comes with them.
We will take the older smaller friendlier churches that focus on the people and their needs.

Is this the closets church? If one is closer I would vote for 30 minutes or less by car. Otherwise it would be 90 minutes.

I found a church that is about 30 minutes from my home in the northern Villages. It is St George Anglican Church, Ocala, traditional, Bible based, Anglo-Catholic, small, beautiful church and even more beautiful church family. The drive is right up 441 to Baseline Road (35) and left on se 28th Street.

There is no way I'd change. It's a God send for me, and the drive is shorter and shorter.:) I would drive an hour if needed to get to this church!

About a 30 minute golf cart ride. Very peaceful.

We are in Pinellas, just south of 466a.

We attend New Covenant United Methodist off 466, about a 15 minute drive be car (have not tried it by cart yet.

They have started a new congregation at the Eisenhower Center right in our backyard but we will still keep going north.

New Covenant is a wonderful church.

Grace Tabernacle

We attend Grace Tabernacle on Hwy 468 in Wildwood. (Morse Blvd will eventually connect with Hwy 468 at Hwy 44 when opened)
Since we live in the Village of Chatham (as far North as you can go in The Villages) it takes us 30 minutes to get there by car. Worth every minute!!!
We have been there a little over 2 years. If you are looking for a wonderful, spirit-filled church with powerful Worship and Anointed, Revelation Preaching, filled with loving and committed folks, then visit with us... Grace Tabernacle where Grace happens!!!

Do you include televised religious services? I am serious and including more than just mass for shut-ins.

Culvers2Villages 11-16-2014 01:52 PM

Hi... we are not televised... but, we do stream via podcast and you can listen to the messages on our Facebook page, (if you have facebook) at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Grace...4117?ref=br_tf

Otherwise, I would be happy to get you a CD of the services or email the Podcast to you.

First Baptist of The Villages has a live stream of their service.

Don't usually have to drive far for this one. They also have services on TV. The boss, Frank, is tight with the big guy. I may not always agree with him but think he is a kind and loving person.

Un saint catholice chuch universel
Eine, heilige, universale katholische Kirche

Almost everywhere and pretty much the same. User friendly. Well operated, not free from sin but working on it. I have found a lot of love and comfort and peace in it's buildings, not for everyone, but will always hold a warm place in my heart. My tradition.

We attend New Covenant United Methodist WEEKLY. Love the message(s) Reverend Hendrin (and his wife Donna 0n Mother's Day)give us and we are a quick golf cart ride away. Couldn't be happier with this Church. By the way, the speaker they had for this last Good Friday 'knocked it out of the park.' Can't remember her name. Shame on us.
