Just spent 30 minutes with "Tru Green" lawn service salesman trying to get me to "sign up" with treatments for my St Augustine lawn. I usually try and use Fertilizers from Lowes ect but would like it done "correctly" as I still have many weeds ect and after seeing what Massey has done to my neighbor's yard I am VERY paranoid about wasting my $$$.

Would appreciate anyone who has had good service and "it shows" as I'm totally confused at what company, if any, is better than another. This company wants $405 a year vs "Prepaid" of $351 to which I'm stuck if I pay for something I don't know what I'm getting but don't mind paying if I get what I pay for.

Call Seniors vs Crime. They will tell you NEVER to prepay for lawn services.

Prepayment of lawn services is one of the biggest problems Villagers have with service providers.

Appreciate the advice as I "woulda" saved a few bucks by "paying in advance" and after the 30-40 min sales pitch told him I would pay for installemts if.....if he would give me some names of lawns that he had done so I could go by and check them out. He did mention that they (Tru Green) had over 5000 accounts and after he called his manager they could not refer me to "any" as I even left him my phone number as he would "call right back" with refrences....which I never got.

Again I appreciate your advice about the "pre pay" as old age and infinite wisdom from so many scams should have...told me better. Seems I just am just getting more and more PARANOID about any "service"....especially in the Villages with all the Bill Gates and Warren Buffet's that live here.

Also my neighbor had been gone for 4 months and he recently bought their house right before leaving for summer and told me that he paid hundreds for lawn services, sprinkler services, ect only to show him when he got back last week that his lawn was FAR worse than mine with cinch bugs eaten large spots.

Seems honesty this day in time is getting harder to find. Thanks again :shrug:

We've been here 7 years and have been through several. I really like Heron Pest Control for our lawn, bushes, irrigation, and now pest control.

We changed to Fertigator a few months ago and our lawn looks great. No weeds. The good grass has choked them all out.

We have been using Zoysia Green (352-323-8454)for over year. Our lawn looks wonderful. High recommend the company. Nothing prepaid or contract. We pay $45.00 bi monthly for a small yard. PM me if you want to drive by our house to check the lawn.
