Lost ATM Citizens First Bank Lynnhaven Postal Station.
 

I went to pick up the mail on 10/15/2014 with my dog Beau about 5:30 PM and the owner of Obi Wan pointed out that someone must have left a Citizens First Bank card in the ATM. The card was just sitting on the ledge under the monitors and such. We looked at it to see if we recognized the name. Neither of us did.

I went about my business but thought I should not just leave this card there.

I brought it home and discussed what to do with in with my Dad. He phoned the number I got from the Villages 2015 Phonebook. The man who answered said that BK had not lived there for three years and he was very tired of all these calls they got for BK.

My Dad called Directory Assistance who also had that number but figured out BK must not have a land line. They did say he lived in Lady Lake but had no phone.

So, I put the Citizens First Bank card in an envelope, sealed it, put just "Found at ATM on 10/15/2014" on it and dropped it into the misplaced mail slot at Lynnhaven postal station about 7:00 PM on 10/15/2014.

I just wanted to make a little record of this. Hope BK gets his card back. I am assuming that the Postal Station people will contact the guy who handles the ATM who can contact the proper bank people about lost Citizen First Bank cards or maybe BK will retrace his journey and talk to the Postal people about this lost card. http://www.citizensfb.com/

In the future you may want to take it to Citizens Band

I thought about mailing it but figured he would probably cancel the card as soon as he figured out he had misplaced it. Basically, we just did not want him to worry that someone might get it and use it at stores without the pin number. It is a debit card not a credit card.

Not sure who is at the address listed for BK here in Lynnhaven or why a Lady Lake resident was in Lynnhaven.

Why not just take it to the bank and let them deal with it??

You would think that he might look where he lost it. This was at 6:30 PM or so when we discovered that the man did not live in the Villages. The bank is not open then. And, by today, he probably would have cancelled the card if it has any money on it.

Sure is a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking for just trying to help someone. There is also the issue of embarrassing a person the least amount possible for losing his debit card. You take it to the bank and that creates a record at that bank.

I have not used the man's name anywhere so that this also does not harm his reputation.

I still think you should take the card to the Citizens Bank. They would call the guy and let him know that they found the card.

In one post, you assumed he cancelled it. Maybe he does not know he lost it yet.

Always- take the card to the bank ASAP or call the customer service number on the back and explain that you have found the card and give them the info on the front. Delaying just causes further confusion.

I handed it over to the postal station workers at Lynnhaven by putting it into the misplaced mail slot in a marked envelope. It was found at that ATM. They will probably call the bank or hand the card over to the Citizen's First Bank workers who refill the cash machine. Usually with a police escort. I just wanted to give the man BK a chance to find it at the Lynnhaven Postal Station before getting the bank involved.

The man only has a cell phone I assume and lives in Lady Lake according to Directory Assistance. Directory Assistance only had an address in Lady Lake. There is no current address nor landline listed for him in the Villages Phone Book. They are both wrong in the Villages Phone Book as well as in the White Pages of the Internet.

I figure it is more a responsibility of the postal center people and the ATM money supplier.

It's truly wonderful that you want to help, but I'm not understanding the problem with getting the bank involved. Wouldn't you want your bank to know immediately if you lost your card? Taking the card to the bank--even dropping it in the deposit slot--would have been the more helpful thing to do. The bank could cancel the card and issue a new one.

I merely wanted to give this person an opportunity to get his card back without involving the bank mainly so he did not face the shame of losing the card. So he would not lose face in other words. Some other people had had the same idea by just leaving the card at the ATM. I thought this would work UNLESS someone dishonest saw the card there at the ATM and wanted to use it.

I see that this man BK is 90 years old and probably is in some of medical unit in Lady Lake so maybe contacting the bank would have been a good idea. AGAIN though this is OUT of my hands. The card is with the Lynnhaven Postal Center people. I deposited it the evening of 10/15/2014. Or, probably the card is already with the bank so this is all MOOT.

Just be thankful he was an hornets person and didn't go on a wild spending spree

But..........now if you find a card you know what is the best thing to do.

What is a hornets person?

The people at the mail stations are contract employees of the USPS not the bank..........how could it possibly be their responsibility?
