In all my --years I never once had anyone ask me that question. I'll bite what is Irish Chicken Murphy?

I know about bangers and mash, colcannon, champ, lamb stew etc. but never heard of Irish Chicken Murphy. Please explain.

All the recipes for Chicken Murphy that I googled claimed to be Italian dishes??

pivo 10-16-2014 03:00 PM

It's chicken, sausage, potatoes, brocoli spelled wrong, some places include a few different things, If you never had it find a place it's one of my favorite dishes
chicken irish murphy
I'm really surprised no one has heard of it.

I guess I won't be having my favorite meal here.
I just relocated from jersey and generally when I went to an italian restaurant and mentioned if they would prepare me a chicken irish murphy dinner they would prepare it for me no problems.
Well I just got off the phone after calling most of the italian restaurants here in the villages and talking to the chefs they have no idea what it is.
So if anyone can suggest a place I would appreciate it
Thank You Again

I used to get Chicken Murphy at Don's 21 in Newark, NJ back in the late 60s or early 70s. It was made with hot cherry peppers. I really liked it. That became my place to go when I had a business trip to Newark.

On second thought, Don's 21 was an Italian restaurant. So it could not be the Irish Chicken Murphy.

I might have my recipe for it around somewhere. I will look.

Caveman I'm glad somebody knows about this dish, I'm also from the Newark area and usually if I went to an Italian restaurant and ask the chef to make me a ckicken irish murphy they did no problem, But being new here no one seems to know of the dish whick is chicken, hot sausage, peppers and I can't think of what else, I called most italian restaurants the chefs have no idea about it which is hard for me to believe unless it's only in the north east, but now I have to find it, I'm new here and I hope this will be my only disappointment otherwise I love it here.

Chicken Murphy appears to be a thing in New Jersey Italian restaurants. Any recipe, that includes hot Italian sausage and hot cherry peppers, must be good.
