Massey Services

Recently Massey showed up at my front door saying they had an appointment to do my first annual termite inspection (free of charge the first time of course). I had never made any such appointment, in fact, I have never talked to them!! When I mentioned this to a couple of neighbors, they said Massey did the same thing to them. When I told the inspector that I had no appointment, he passed it off as a mix up. I let him go ahead and do the inspection. This is obviously a scam. Massey will never get my termite protection business!!!

NYGUY: I may be wrong but if you are relatively new perhaps Massey did the initial termite treatment. If so then they are just making a follow up.

I have used Massey since moving here 8 years ago and so far they have been professional and easy to deal with. I have no complaints

They have the best sales force in the business. About the same service.

Totally agree, we went through many companies out here before them and they have exceeded everyone else in service and results! When we moved here over 12 years ago Massey I believe did all the initial termite treatments on houses, so yes they do follow up, if you do not keep up with inspections and treatment when needed years dan the road your will negate your warranty. They're just doing their job. They always been fair to us and never ever pushy about using their other services but we use them for lawn, pest and termite now.

Yes, this was the first annual and Massey did the initial. BUT, it was "stated" that I made an appointment when, in fact, I have never talked to them. It was NOT stated that this was an unannounced, we are the nicest guys in The Villages, following up just for you, kind of visit. Now maybe age has killed a few of my brain cells, but it would have to have killed my neighbors also, who report that same tactic.

In my opinion this was totally unprofessional!!

Did you bother to call them and ask about this?

I'm surprised to hear your story and that of your neighbors, because Massey is usually known to be a top-notch company with which to deal.
A follow-up call from the Massey office would have been much more appropriate.

No, their are plenty of other service providers.

Are you sure they didn't tell you when they did the first inspection that they would be back in one year? I'm sure they would have rescheduled when you opened the door if you told them it was not a good time. I would much rather they did it this way instead of relying on me to remember. Relax, it's not a big deal! By the way, how were they trying to scam you since the visit was free???

Good Luck with the other service providers, we've tried just about everyone, Massey is the only one that has our lawn looking great and I don't see bugs in the house! Best of luck to you!

Another happy Massey customer. I have had a terrible time in the past with my yard. That all changed when i hired Massey. Also, have them for termites. They have been the best company to deal with.

I would call them and see what is going on. Also, keep in mind that with any company you can have one guy that is doing things differently to make his job easier. He might have been in the neighborhood to do a job and thought he would do everyone at once if he could. Not the way Massey operates, but maybe a new guy like I said....trying to make his job easier.

I just called Massey today. Someone who barely spoke English (not as a first language) answered the phone. I asked for information about cost and services for a courtyard villa (mowing, trimming, etc.). I was told that they would NOT give me any information over the phone. They MUST have a free face to face appointment in order to give me any type of info. I asked for a range of pricing for the Villa. (the really are all about the same unless you have a corner lot which I do not). No way. I asked if they would rather lose my business because they wouldn't give me a rough idea over the phone, and they said that was the way they do business. I thanked them (for nothing?) and hung up. Too bad for them. I have another property that I need landscape maintenance on, and am a great source of referrals as I sell homes in The Villages.
Oh well, I'll keep looking. Any suggestions for landscape maintenance -greatly appreciated.
