Thank you for your post.
There is no reason for anyone not to get a flu shot every year,
unless there is a medical reason they can't have one.

In light of this Ebola outbreak,
the reason to get this shot is even more important.

there certainly is no lack of places to get a shot and could not be any more convenient.

Fot the 50% or more adults who do not get a flu shot, I would think the elimination of getting the flu and eliminating that momentary thought of having symptoms similar to ebola.

And I am willing to bet there are very many in that more than 50% who are concerned about ebola in this country.

Doesn't make any sense at all does it?
Worry about something that is unlikely that has no cure.
And not worry about something (the flu) that is likely, is airborn contagious and kills 24,00 annually and for which there is a preventative vaccine.
MAkes not sense at all.

I posted this as a reminder hoping it would get a very large viewing, but they posted under medical discussions and I don't think many look at that area. What I understand ,over 65 and the very young are the most at danger from the flu.

Bump

Bump. My employer offers employees free flu shots every year, and I am glad to have this benefit offered. Only about 20% of my coworkers take advantage of this benefit. Now I have remember to check with my dad to see if he has gotten his flu shot yet.

In our geographic area the flu shot through our MD (has more strains than those at the drug store) is not available to those under 65 and healthy. We've been told the beginning of December there should be sufficient supply for everyone. Those in greatest need should have first access if there is a limited supply and we're happy to wait another month. I

Excellent point!

I got my high dose flu shot at Publix about a month ago. No hassle! No cost!

I was surprised to hear that only the high-risk elderly were eligible to get the flu shot when it was first available.
(It was available to the general public two weeks later.)
The shocking part was when I asked for a definition of high-risk elderly; and the young receptionist replied: "Anyone over the age of 65".
