I believe that was the year a lot of orange groves were lost.

i remember that winter in Florida. An aunt and uncle resided in Winterhaven. I visited them regularly; in fact my first trip to Florida was visiting them in January. I could not believe how cold and wet it was. Somehow in my naive youth I was under the impression the whole state was almost tropical, like Miami.
