100 greatest punchers

http://boxing.about.com/od/history/a/ring_punchers.htm

This is of interest. Was doing a little research on boxers after I just saw the movie Resurrecting the Champ on DVD which was partly about Bob Satterfield. I do not want to say any more in case this winds up being a spoiler for the movie.

My parents used to play bridge with the prizefighter referee Mills Lane who did the Holyfield-Tyson bout http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bite_Fight that involved the ear.

I looked at the list and I think Rocky Marciano deserved more than 14th position. He retired as the only undefeated heavyweight champion and won every professional fight he ever had. 87% (43) of his victories were by knockout. That's as close to perfection as you can get in professional boxing. 14th....I don't think so.

Sorry Tal:
I think your source is way off....... My list is as follows,

#1 ALI
#2 MARCIANNO ( 1 & 2 might a tie )
#3 STANLEY KETCHEL (michigan assassin) at 157 lbs he could only get fights with heavyweights...... and still nearly beat everyone.......

#4 BOB MERRILL from Bell Gardens , Los Angeles ..........Amateur in the
AIR FORCE....170 lbs and never saw anyone go more than 2 rounds
with him...........However he had no interest in prize fighting......

Can't really agree with Marvin Hagler being below Thomas Hearns, especially when you compare win/KO ratio and after Hagler KO'd Hearns in the 3rd Round of their match.

I'm surprised not to see Floyd Patterson on the list. he had a 55/40 Win/KO ratio, and that was against some tough talent.

Rocky Balboa needs to be in the top three on this list!
