HELP--garage door problem
 

My garage door has inexplicably started to stop halfway up when opening it with either the device on the wall or the remote opener. I have to close & reopen it several times to get it to open all the way. There's nothing obstructing the electric eye. What to do? Who to call? Thank you in advance for any recommendations.

First, try spraying the track with lubricant, WD40 or a garage door lube. I am guessing there is some excess friction on the track, and this a causing the torque limit to be reached on the opener.
Hope this helps. I lube my door at least once per year.

Same happened to me, I took the cover off and noticed the belt was shredded, replaced with new belt works like new.

It is a bad idea to lubricate the tracks of a garage door (and NEVER use WD40 to lubricate ANYTHING!!)

Lubricate the roller/bearings and the hinges with a lithium or silicone spray .... but not the tracks.

If you haven't disturbed the eyes at the bottom of the garage door ( they both must align, that is, see each other) then unplug the plug near the motor on the ceiling for five seconds then plug it back in. This sometime works. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. One company told me to lubricate the rails and arms. There is a particular lubricate they recommended and you can buy at Home Depot. Just ask for garage door lubricate and it is not WD 40 or graphite. HDepot should know. The guy said that when the rails need lubricate they slow down and it tells the sensor to stop the door. Lubrication fixed the problem.
