Wow!.GREAT TV reception with Direct-TV

Very pleased with Direct-TV.... Unbelievable difference between Comcast and Direct-TV..... My happy day, returning equipment to Comcast, while in line 5 other un-happy customers returning equipment...If I could just find an internet supplier to take Comcast place, I would be "Free, free at last":pepper2:

Also their customer service is very good. Not in a foreign country.

My husband was just checking on a package with Direct TV and they bundle services with Century link to provide phone and internet. Anyone have any experience with doing this??

If signal is lost just switch to SD duplicate channel.

We've got Direct TV and use Comcast for internet only. Better rates and speed than Century.

Suggestion

Send a return receipt letter to Comcast Hdq's in Philadelphia saying just what Comcast equipment you returned (e.g. router, etc) and the day you had service turned off. Confirm you do not want to be billed for any of these effective on the appropriate dates. You may also want to have the letter noterized.
I heard terrible stories about Comcast continuing to bill after these date and in fact when I signed off on their rental for a router as I bought my own the next bill had a charge for a rental for the router. Thus another hour call to Comcast.
Save all your receipts for retruns, etc.

Approximately how much is Direct TV compared to Comcast's TV package that includes HBO?

CFrance 11-25-2014 09:53 PM

We had one tiny blip this afternoon when the heaviest rain started. About five seconds. Nothing since. Love DirecTV.

I have the same package. Phone service with Internet will run about $75 per month.

Directv has a great package at about $49 per month. Customer service reps leave a lot to be desired but not as bad as Comcast. They are usually a storehouse of misinformation.
1. Installation is free only if you have the dish installed on your roof. If you want your dish installed away from your house, the vendor will charge you $82.00.
2. Ask what the rates will jump to, after a year, as they will never offer that info. Initial rates are low and jump dramatically, after the one year mark.
3. Make sure you cancel the 3 months free of movies, as you will see it on your bill in the fourth month.
4. Make sure you get the recording DVD free, when you first order or they will want to charge you $200 to upgrade after two weeks, if you change your mind.
5. I am still waiting for CenturyLink to combine my Directv bill with their bill and it's been a year and a half later.

I told a Directv supervisor they need to train their people better on their products as they promise you something, and never follow-up. It's sad to see that some people are just warming a chair. Just ensure you get what you expect and you will be fine.

Directv is a great product especially if one loves sports. As usual, you need to be your own advocate.

How come there is not more DISH TV here. Everyone talks about Direct TV. Does anyone have Dish? If so how is it?

genobambino 01-27-2015 12:06 PM

I hate Direct, moved in this house about 3 years ago and discovered the Direct installer from the previous owner had cut all my coax cables in the attic and also at the box outside. Comcast and Dish installer said that's common with them so it's hard to hook back up with cable. My brother inlaw also caught the Direct installer doing the same thing after they signed up with Direct...For me Dish is the best deal going, Direct will jack up your rate after the promo runs out..Comcast is the best deal for internet but you do have to keep renegotiating your rate. Century link also sucks...

tuccillo 01-27-2015 12:17 PM

I don't bundle with DirectTV but I do have CenturyLink for internet. I am happy. I live south of 466A and have their fiber to the house.

We have Dish. Very pleased. Got rid of Comcast a couple of years ago. Comcast was a nightmare.

when returning Comcast equipment you do not have to stand in line at their one location in TV. UPS has a deal with Comcast. Just go to any UPS store...not a box pack and ship that does UPS....but a UPS store (on Bichara Blvd).

UPS will scan the labels and provide you with a tracking number and a receipt, proof of drop off.

Lot less agrivating than standing in line....better attitude by UPS as well.
