Doxie Puppies

If anyone knows of someone who might be looking for a puppy in a couple of months, Florida Dachshund Rescue has taken in a pregnant dapple color female dachshund who is pregnant.

Take into consideration that the gestation period is about 63 days
and then another 8 weeks until the puppies are weaned.

Bonanza,

Good info. Thanks for sharing.

By the way she had an ultrasound yesterday and they said she was about 38 days pregnant with 5 puppies. The father is supposedly also a dachshund, as the person who had before FLDR got her had a male dachshund.

Do you know if a long hair or smooth dachshund. Silver dapple or chocolate dapple?

Avista,

Here is a photo of Libby. As you can see she is smooth-coated. She will not be available for several months because she has to give births, wean the puppies, and go through H/W treatment. She already has one adoption application. So if interested you better get your application in. For her story and to see other photos you can go to: https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/4tYC8

She is beautiful. I have a red long haired dachshund now, but she is almost 15. Dapples are beautiful! plus have a Boston. With our 2 dog limit, just. Checking her out. We love Doxies.

Rescue dog Libby is in labor and has had 5 puppies so far. Found out she is carrying 8 total. Anyone interested in placing an adoption application for a puppy or the mother can do so on-line at fldr.org or check out the Facebook website: https://www.facebook.com/FLDachshundRescue

These puppies will be beautiful. I hope the mom also finds a good home.

please keeps us informed on how everything turns out.

Just so potential adopters are aware, the puppies' coloration will change somewhat as they mature.

It's not quite as obvious as Dalmations being born white and then developing their spots, but the colors and size of the colors will be different.

Just had to share this precious photo below.

Also, here is an update: Libby's uterus ruptured and one of the last two puppies did not make it. They had to do a C-Sect. They are trying to determine what antibiotic they can give her because she will be nursing her puppies. If they can't determine one, the puppies may have to be hand fed. All 7 of them. They had a fundraiser and are just $40, I believe, away from their goal. If anyone is interested in helping FLDR reach their goal, here is the fundraiser site below. For a $20 donation, you can claim a Perk which is a free 2015 dachshund calendar. So you get something in return for your donation. Here is the site for anyone interested:

Oh, poor little Libby. I know the puppies will be fine.
I just hope that Libby recovers and finds a good home.
