Looking for Hearing Aides

I am in the process of purchasing hearing aides. I loved the Phonak pair I used on a trial basis. However, I do not want to pay $3,600. They say I have a basic weakness hearing high pitch sounds, and that I could get away with using 6 channels over the 12. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have the Phonak pair. They are very good but make sure you get the volume control feature.

Hearing aids. You get what you pay for.

If the hearings aids work, $3600 sounds like a good price. Does that include checkups, adjustments and a three year or more warranty?

I've over the years had about 4 sets of hearing aids. They don't last forever and I had the misfortune of losing 2. Buying hearing aids is like buying a used car. The dealers will try to get you into a top price but you can get them down by lots. Now since I have lost my left hearing aid I'm in the market for a new set. I've been watching the ads now and not ready to even test the market with all the bs I've read in the ads in the paper.

I thought you were looking for a person when you mentioned hearing "aides," and see you really meant a hearing "aid!"

Talk to the H/A dispenser at Sam's.

Looking and purchasing hearing aids is a tricky exercise and one that I've traversed with much disappointment.
First, be aware that they will last 5 years, if you're lucky (what I was told by a hearing aid professional).
Second, I think they are WAY, way, overpriced.
If you're not a tough negotiator, they will clean out you pockets.
YOU CAN negotiate the price or walk away and go somewhere else.
I would look outside the Villages when shopping.
If you look for guidance via the internet be aware that most of the sites are owned by companies selling the hearing aids and will give you only what they feel the need to tell you, so they can sell you.
So, it's a land mind and they have you blindfolded and walking. BE CAREFUL!

If you are retired military you can purchase hearing aids through an installation audiology clinic at a special government-negotiated price. This will reduce the cost of your hearing aids by up to 85%. To locate military treatment facilities, go to militaryaudiology.org/site/rachaprhapp-locations.
