Anyone offering help with IRS?
We received a notice from the IRS requesting payment connected with cashing out a Life Insurance policy . We did not cash out a life insurance policy but we do not know how to respond to the IRS. Our agent, back in our prior home state was less than helpful. Is there anyone offering a service to respond correctly to such IRS notices? in other words HELP :(

All good advice. Looks like we need a CPA. Anyone care to suggest one they have personally used and would recommend?

Having worked at IRS I know that the IRS contacts taxpayers only via regular mail...they will not call you or send an email. IRS uses Notices to contact taxpayers and the Notice number will be listed at the top of the contact so you can look that up on the IRS webpage...also, as a previous post mentioned, in the Notice there will be contact telephone numbers and names for you to use. The issue will be stated in the body of the Notice and in your instance, I imagine they would have listed the name of the insurance company so you could readily go back and check your records. Definitely does not sound like a legitimate contact to me if your contact did not provide the above information.

Many thanks, Liere. I am sight impaired, but my husband will read the notification again, now that our panic has worn off. Thank you for your generous offer, and we will contact you if we determine we need help. Kind regards. Sandra
