Long before kids I remember my wife and I visiting a friend in Franconia, NH on Thanksgiving. We ran out of beer. After digging out the car, warming it up we risked death for a couple of cases. We high fived each other when we got back as if we escaped enemy fire on a rescue mission.

Still it took almost 40 years before the light turned on in my head that in the south you don't need to go through all that for some brew.

In Michigan, my wife worked at a Big Boys, and one evening after her shift ended, she came out to find our car door locks were all frozen. :cold:
Heating the keys and spraying the locks didn't work. She was able to open the hatch-back and crawl over the seats (fun while wearing your winter parka) to start the car. This was in 79 or 80, and really made the moving south decision easier.
