Allergies

We're planning to move to TV this fall from the Midwest. As I sit here now, sniffling and sneezing from spring allergies, I'm hoping you all can tell me that you don't have many allergy problems there! I'm coming anyway, but just wondering.

Sorry, but these problems are here in TV too. It is not as bad as I had it when I lived in Minneapolis, but it is still pretty irritating on some days. :(

Re: Allergies

I used to live in one of the "hot" allergy spots in California -- by Walnut Creek. We have more allergists per peson than anywhere else in the US (or so the claim goes). I was pretty lucky that I didn't suffer much. Even so, I'd go through a couple of weeks of pure misery during the spring and fall. Here, I think I've experienced about 2 or 3 days of the sinus headache, drips and sneezes. Huge difference!!!

Be prepared for women's perfumes (to which I have some pretty bad reactions), though. They are very prevalent here and some women think a half a bottle at a time is almost enough.

My allergies aren't any worse than in CT - however, my cat developed some sort of airborne allergies and is on an inhaler once a day and I add 1/2 Zyrtec if she has a bad day.

I agree with the perfume statement and will add men's cologne to that - I can have a whole show at the Savannah or a movie ruined for me because someone has taken a bath in it.

My allergist told me years ago as we were moving around a lot that you will need two years to acclimate to your new environment. Every area is different therefore some people who never had problems might experience them for the first time with a move. I had some problems in Michigan but since moving south to Tennessee and Arkansas they have become a lot worse. I think Ark is mainly due to all the burning and spraying for crops. Junk in the air all the time. Go to TV expecting you might have some problems and you might not. Less stress and more fun might make it easier to cope. Good Luck

Never had allergies before but after 2 years of living here- my skin is breaking out around my eyes. I don't do well in bright sun . Off to the doctor on Mon. Still love it here.

:( I hate to hear that about the perfume. It really bothers me to be around it. Oh well - I'll just wear a mask to the movies/shows.

We moved from Indiana 2 years ago. The allergies seem to be worse down here. My husband has skin rashes & his ears itch all the time. On a positive note, we don't have the winter colds & flu like back in Indiana. ;D
