Villager Steals Mother's Prepaid Funeral Account

This is breaking news on the site that shall remain unnamed. This is low even by whatever standards crooks have. The sister of the thief set up an account for her mother. The thief sister pretended to be her sibling and stole money during 2012 and 2013. When the mother died this year the account was empty and money had to be borrowed. So...what is a fitting punishment for the crime?

Never ceases to amaze me how low some people can be. Perhaps because I cannot think that way. Clearly she has a problem. Just sad, and no amount of punishment in this life can make it right.

That is a new low. I sincerely hope that she did this out of a severe need and not just greed. Don't think I could live with myself. For punishment, how about we all chip in and buy her a tombstone: Here lies XX, the woman who stole her mother's funeral money. Seems fitting to have to lie under that for all eternity.

Actually it would be more fitting if they just threw her....

Nevermind..................

It does not get any lower than this. She ought to get at least five years in prison for such a despicable felony.

You are right when you say you don't understand it because you would never think that way, IMO. Sometimes people will say of criminals that they will "have to live with this the rest of their lives"...as if they are going to be punished with remorse. Who knows if this is true or not...we sure can't get inside another's head. This is heartbreaking, this news report. It's bad enough to lose your mom and have siblings fighting over her things...but this! Unbelievable.

I just thought of this. Is the bank partly responsible for not making sure of her identity?

It never ceases to amaze me how low someone can get, when it comes to money. When there are several siblings, there is always one who will do the right thing by their parents and the others are usually self absorbed. It's sad to see when the parent/s have money and the kids fight over who gets what, and how much.

Something like this sounds like a person who always was thinking, "what in this, for me?". I don't think she has recriminations as she is self absorbed. She probably thought nothing of doing this type of thing, but now has shame, because she was caught.

As the bible says, "the love of money, is the root of all evil".
