Golf Cart Insurance for Non-US Citizen & US Citizen Spouse

My friend is a US citizen but her husband is not, and she has just been notified that her golf cart insurance carrier is not renewing their coverage because her husband is not a US citizen. He is still working full-time and does not have a US driver's license. He drives the golf cart as his mode of transportation when he is down here. He is here for several weeks or a month a few times a year.

The insurance company wants him to get a US driver's license. But if he does that, then that makes their car insurance much higher. He doesn't want or need to drive a car here.

Does anyone have a similar situation?

Thanks for your help.

Most of our Canadian friends including myself, went through the villages for our golf car insurance and did not have any trouble at all getting the coverage. None of us have US licenses.

We don't have Florida driver licenses and we're not US citizens.
We've never had a problem obtaining golf cart insurance.

My wife is a not a US citizen but she has a FL driver's license.

If the husband is here for that much time, he should simply get a FL license.

If he does not drive a car in here, then why should he go through all of those requirements to get a Fl license? It is not an easy process if he just wants to drive a golf cart.

Personally, I would find another golf cart insurer.

We have golf cart insurance through Stacy and we don't have Florida driver's licenses.

Allstate does not require that you have a drivers license or be a US citizen

Thanks, everyone, for your responses. I will pass them along to my friend.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Do you own the cart? I called Stacy today and they do not have insurance for people who rent carts. She was married awhile ago so her last name has changed but she's the only Stacy there now.
