Loose Dog in Caroline - 12/3 at @ 3:30

I just spotted a smaller dog--male, mostly black with some tan areas? running off of Stillwater between Maybank Loop and Fort Mill Court.
He is wearing a collar and we tried to get him to come close so we could read the tag but no luck; growled at us and ran away.
He seems very confused and ran back and forth on Stillwater so there's a concern about getting hit by a car or cart.
--Am going back out now with a leash to see if I can round him up.

Please call me at 585-329-1922 if you think that he is yours!

That's very kind of you! I hope you have some chicken or steak in your pocket. Good luck!

A dog on the loose can go Into flight and survival mode. He may feel hunted by the people trying to bring him to safety.

Don't call they dog, pat your leg or anything like that, the exact opposite is needed....get the dogs attention by coughing or something....then try to lure the dog to you .

You need get down and be in a non threatening posture, have food in crinkly package and make noises as if you are eating.....hopefully the dog will be interested , drop food on the ground and when you have a chance slip a leash quickly over the dogs head.....

Will try and post all tips

Could this possibly be the shy black and tan chihuahua (about 15 lbs. -- large for a chihuahua) that was recently found and back with its owner?

Call the radio station and they will broadcast it. That usually gets the job done.

The couple times that our dogs have gotten loose on us and gone tearing around the yard, what worked best for me was to just sit down on the grass. No chasing; chasing either becomes a game or engenders flight.

Each time, the dog was so curious to see what I was doing, he came over to me. Maybe it would work with this little guy, esp. if you had some food. Good luck!
