Basic computer/internet ability

I want to get my sister a "simple" computer.....she only uses one for emails and doing research on the internet.

If she lives where there is wifi I am tempted to get her an iPad.....and there must certainly be some low end low capability computers that would suffice.

Any suggestions?

Best Buy has this all in one computer for $349 which has 4 gig of memory. That should be enough memory for someone who does just e-mail and surfing.

I bought my wife a chromebook. You can't break it, updates itself, and it can't get malware.
I paid $240 from Walmart because you can return it in 15 days if she didn't like it or wanted a fancier chromebook.
She loves it. And never needs my pc help.

Another vote for Chromebook.
I got the Acer touchscreen for around $250 on sale. Does everything I need.

Now that's weird. I vote for chrome book also.

My vote is for a Chromebook also.... Simple to use and with cloud storage your files are always backed up.

Does she really need a computer? I have a Kindle and can get emails and surf the net. $99. If she has a smart phone she can do the same. Does she have an internet connection in her home? Your cheap computer could cost her a monthly connection fee.

Chomebook is exactly what she needs!

I'm stating the obvious when I say the Chromebook is by far the most popular option. Just make sure it is going to have the hardware to stay current for at least 2 years. If you are going to get a regular laptop, have at least an I3 intel processor and 4gb of ram. sure, it is much more than she needs now, but it won't be out of date in a month.

I go back to 1969 to write my first computer program.
Worked on many types of computers.
I use a Chomebook 99.99% of the time

Just happened upon this article on Chromebooks. If you're leaning that way, it may help you decide on a specific one.
