Looking for ideas to buy new Toyota Tacoma

Looking at the 4 door tdr model or the Limited. Any recommendations?

Go with the new Chevrolet Colorado or GMC Canyon - all new midsize pickup; Tacoma starting to get long in the tooth.

Just bought a 2015 extra long bed with access cab , love it. i looked at other trucks, none can come close to a Toyota for quality fit/built and dependability . You can't find a used Toyota Truck , people just keep them. They LAST. USED COST ALMOST AS MUCH AS A NEW ONE, THEY keep their value, more than i can say for the others. This is my 4th one. I get 300,000 on them easy with no problem, other than regular maintenance. Quality engines and transmissions that others can't come close too. I would love to buy American but the quality is not there. They fall apart after 80,000 or less miles. The smart buy is a Toyota or a Honda car.

Have a 2013 Tacoma 4 X 4 access cab. This is my 4th Toyota Truck. All have been excellent with no issues. The only one I didn't keep very long was my 2009 because it was not 4 wheel drive. Bought it used for 17,500 with 15,000 miles, drove it 35,000 miles and sold it for 15,500. All others were sold because I was buying a new one. Usually sold at around 175000 miles. Have had 3 Tacoma's and one Tundra.

Personally I prefer the access cab. Even with the full cab the back seat is pretty useless except to haul stuff. So the access cab does that about as well and does not have to have the extra long wheel base. I have hauled some very huge loads on these trucks with no issues.

They hold there used truck value better than any other vehicle.

I have the 2011 model, I would go with the V-6, access cab, 4-wheel drive. Love mine, reliability is superb.

I've had Tacomas and 4Runners. Both very reliable.

Just an FYI. The 2016 Tacoma will be a all new model. Just something to consider.

I am leaning toward the 4 door, but I will look real hard at the access cab. I have a Tundra now, but it is too big. I am selling it real cheap to my son-in-law. I plan to buy this before the end of the month so the 2016 is out. I still have my '02 Tundra for the real hard, dirty work. It runs and drives great w/170,000+ miles. Off to look this morning!

I believe that you will find the new Tacoma is the same size as your current Tundra. Especially the Tacoma 4 door.

Also someone above suggested getting the V 6. I have had the Tundra v 8, a Tacoma V 6 and two Tacoma 4 Cylinder. The current one is a 4 Cylinder. And yes every once in a while when trying to accelerate fast I wish I had the V 6. But for 99% of my driving the 4 is great. And I love it every time I fill up because I average 28 mpg with a 4 X 4 pick up truck. My brother has the exact same truck with a V 6 and his average is 23 mpg. 5 mpg over 200,000 miles is a lot. Right now gas is cheap, but we all know that will change. If not because of demand, because the government will see an opportunity to raise taxes on it.

But the 2016 won't be available until late 2015. If it is better I will get a 2017 model after all the new has worn off. The 2015 4 door drove great! I have settled on the Sport model, but I could be tempted with the Limited. Now it is all about price.

We had a 2000 Nissan Frontier King Cab 4x4 and drove it for just under 100,000 trouble free miles for ten years. The reason we purchased the Nissan was that the top line Toyota Tacoma had uncomfortable seats. We now have a Toyota Sienna and love it. That said, you would be wise to look at both the Tacoma and Frontier as they still have a very good reliability record. I would look no further than those two.
