Invisible Fence
Has anyone installed invisible fencing to contain their pets? How has it worked out?
|
We use it here as we did when we lived up north. Works great here as well. I'm always outside with our dog as well, especially at night due to other other animals may be out too.

I use it for my pooch. He knows his boundaries. He was trained on Invisable Fence System up north so it was a piece of cake once installed here. The service techn for this area is very prompt with setting installation. He was quick to respond when we wanted to check our batteries that we brought from up north

A lot depends on the breed. It worked very well for our goldens up north. But I had friends with a small hyper smart poodle mix who figured out if she could endure a nano second of pain she was free! And another friend with a hound dog who would "jump" over the fence when he got a scent he wanted to track.

My Cavalier Kung Charles loves his invisible fence. He has the run of our large side yard.

Our jack Russell only left our yard once. He was being carried by my loved one and got zapped!

We had to put our golden in the car and drive him out because he never got the concept of "the magic door" he could go through without the collar on. |
My Cavalier is the same.

Oh I was guilty of pulling of the driveway with pooch having collar on. I couldn't figure out why he squealed, that I saw the collar! I was so mad at myself

Our teenaged sons... well, you can imagine the experiments they ran on each other with that thing! (NOT on the dog.)

We had the invisible fence up north and when we came down brought transmitter and collars with us. Once we got down here we had invisible fence come out and we upgraded to a new transmitter which lets the dogs get right up close to the wire and the collars are half the size of old ones. They came out and installed everything and we couldn't be happier with everything, they did a fantastic job and our girls love there yard.

We had "Invisible Fence" but switched to "Dog Watch". A much better product and people to deal with. Please check them out before going to "IF".

My wife took Harry's collar off once and then crossed the line. Glad I didn't encourage that event. |

Overall, invisible fences do work, after your worked with your dog and trained him.
However, I would never let my dog out without being with him under any circumstances. It doesn't replace a fence! |
