Who hooks up gas stoves in TV?
 

I am getting a new one on Sat to replace my broken one and looking for recommendations for someone to hook it up at a reasonable price. TIA

Gas appliances need to be installed by a plumber.

Maybe the fire department knows who is qualified to do this? I certainly wouldn't want to take any chances. Sometimes cheapest or reasonable isn't the best choice.

Many plumbers are certified.

My plumbing company in Miami does it at least 1 time a week. We only install natural gas NEVER L.P. because of insurance. Check for both license and insurance

Is it written in regulations? Where? I talked with TECO (Peoples Gas) last week and asked if I qualified for the Energy Conservation rebate if I hooked my gas range up myself. I was told yes.

Not a TECO regulation. It's Sumter County building code.

When they I referred to "you" hooking the gas stove up yourself, they were not referring to you personally. They meant you could find an appropriate vendor to do it.

Not so. I was very specific in my discussion with them. If that were not the case, I would have had to put down the license registration number of the person I contracted with. I was told to leave that blank since I did it myself.

Hooking up a gas appliance is actually easy to do. Buy a roll of gas specific joint tape. Usually pink or yellow where water pipe tape is always white. Wrap the treads with the tape and make the connections. Tighten with a wrench to about 45 foot pounds. Lift a 50 pound bag of something and use that same effort on a 8 inch wrench. Turn on the gas valve and take some very soapy water and brush on the connection and look for bubbles. Check all connections with the soapy water for leaks. If none, wipe dry and fire it up.
