Colony Vet
We have always used Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital. they have been great with our dogs. We Had a terrible experience this past week at the new one @ Pinellas. So we went for a 2nd opinion to Dr. Drum @ Colony Vet . The end result is the same. 1 dog needs surgery. Dr. Drum was great but a lot more expensive. Does anyone have any experience with this Vet.

No I do not BUT If you want a Vet and Staff that are equally outstanding, try either Park Heights Animal Care 352-326-9116 or The Village Veterinarian 352-750-3000. Dr. Ross Valdez and or Dr. Rick Munsell (Village Veterinarain) are "seasoned" Vets. Dr. Valdez is involved with local fundraising and assisted with rescue & relief efforts for surviving animals of Hurricane Katrina. Their pricing is very reasonable as well! Good Luck to You!

Responses to PM's for Colony Vet. Anyone use them??
She was treating my dog for a" Skin infection" on . her ear. After 2 weeks of antibiotics it was no better and another similar lump appeared on her belly. When we called the vet during business hours the message said the voicemail
was full. After a lot of trouble & calling the other office we finally got a call and seen fairly quickly. My husband brought [/I][/I]her in. Vet said probably cancer and needs surgery.Scraped a scab off her ear while she was there. ( did not send off any cells) When she came home.I tried to pet my always overly friendly dog and she started quivering in pain. My husband called right away as this is our small dog and she has never had pain med. He described carefully how much pain she was in and was told he would get a call back right away. Well, business hours came & went & my poor pup was really suffering. We still waited as we have never had problems with them. The call never came. When we called the next day. It was That vets day off and we were given the excuse she probably wanted to wait for blood work. I've been a nurse, I know, not a vet, for 30 yrs.Her suffering was just so unacceptable to us & the other vet @ the original Buffalo Ridge we just decided to go for another opinion |

I have used Dr. Drum since I moved here 1.5 years ago. He has diagnosed problems that my vets could not for years. To me, that is worth the extra money. That being said, I have used the 24 hour emerg at Buffalo Ridge and they were very good also. But I'm staying with Dr. Drum. He always explains everything in great detail, tells me his honest opinion on what he would do (and many times its the less expensive and most conservative thing) and answers all my questions fully.

we used Dr. Drum twice once for routine shots, prices were lower than all others.
Next small bump on his lip he was great, gave him an antibiotic said let's see if it improves before we go further. It went away in a week or so. He could have suggested other tests that were expensive and chose not tout to see if the antibiotic would do the trick. we like him so far |
I find all vets in The Villages more expensive than any others outside, i.e., Leesburg, Ocala etc.
I got a (what I thought was an outrageous) price quote for teeth cleaning. Am trying Leesburg. |
