Free Wi-fi Spots in TV

Where are free Wi-fi spots in the Sumter Landing area? I assume Starbucks. Where else?

I had no trouble finding a place to 'piggyback' in LSL or anywhere else in TV for that matter. People really need to secure their wireless! Of course if i lived there full-time I'd have my own secure connection but while i was there on a preview visit I had no issues connecting from my rental home in Largo.

My connection is not secure in my existing home (not in TV). What is the downside of having an unsecured router, aside of someone occasionally using up part of my bandwidth? What is the danger of stolen bank account information and other info stored on my hard drive, or stealing my e-mail transmissions, or web browsing...oh the stuff they will discover from my postings on TOTV :yikes:

I don't think Starbucks is free. Panera's has free WiFi, as does Crisper's. The Savannah Center and the library have computers with free Internet connections, but I don't know about WiFi. :dontknow: Does anybody else know?

Starbucks in SS was free last time I used it in February.

No real issue with allowing your wireless to be used by me. Of course I'm not a real hacker. Allowing access to your network can allow real hackers to access the traffic that is being sent and received along with other nasty things. There are literally hundreds of web sites that discuss why wireless connections should be made as secure as you can and the possible consequences of not doing so. At a minimum it is a VERY simple procedure to turn on WPA or WEP encryption within your wireless router.

I can't imagine that anyone in TV would want to steal anything, or would they?

My wireless is secured and will stay that way, especially in TV. I'm not worried about the parents, but I am concerned about some of the "kids" that live here with their parents. I've heard of more than one of them arrested on major drug charges and most in their 20s to mid-30s are extremely computer literate. It seems they many aren't living with mom and dad to help out the parents but rather because of their own problems.

So, I would definitely recommend having a secured wireless.

OK, after reading that article, I retract what i said - I DID NOT piggyback off of someone's else's network. It was just a figment of my wild imagination. I must have been dreaming when i wrote that :dontknow:
