Turkey or Ham?
 

Anyone know why it's Turkey for Thanksgiving and Ham for Christmas? I realize that possibly it was turkey during pilgram times but is that the real reason? Ham for Chirstmas??? Seems that is the popular tradition ... but why? :a040:

So now the question is: Why Ham on Easter? Just curious ..

Because after the turkey at thanksgiving, they are ready for something that tastes good. I love ham yum yum.

Its prime rib at our house on Christmas. Actually we do ham for Easter and turkey for Thanksgiving

When I was growing up it was turkey for both in my house.

Agree same at our household. No one ever seems to be disappointed at our family dinner gatherings for these celebrations.

Prime rib on the Traeger, Yorkshire pudding, gravy, horseradish sauce, creamed spinach and salad. All home made except for the beef, bought that at Publix.

Yep another vote for Turkey at Thanksgiving, Ham at Easter and Prime Rib for Christmas which we did on the Weber grill today and it was awesome!

DW made Cornish Game Hens for our Christmas dinner.

Ham, macaroni and cheese (Fannie Farmer recipe but with skim milk), and tossed salad with Julia Child's vinaigrette. DH made chocolate mousse from the Betty Crocker Cookbook. For an appetizer we had a baguette with olive salad from the Spanish Springs Farmer's market.

Turkey breast, honey baked ham and prime rib. Then stuffing, green beans, brussel sprouts with pancetta, shallots and garlic. Twice baked mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and rolls. Dessert: cheesecake with raspberry sauce, sweet potato pie and fruit cake (I am only the 2nd to have my Grandmother's recipe)

We always do turkey for Thanksgiving and ham for Christmas & Easter.

Growing up in an NYC Irish immigrant household, it was always turkey at Thanksgiving, Macy's fresh ham at Christmas and leg of lamb at Easter. (Which meant phenomenal Shepherd's pie on Easter Monday.)

Now it's usually ham at Easter, sometimes at Christmas and if not, turkey which is also Thanksgiving.

Two Turtle Doves, 3 French Hens, and a Partridge in a pear tree. Mmmm! Yum!
