Ripped off by contractor in the villages
New to the Villages and were ripped off by Lopez- Hernandas. Our patio looked lovely until we discovered that ants were not pushing up the sand ,as Pamela told us. The water sprinklers beneath the patio were not capped off and water was surfacing. The sand that was used was cheap and did not compact as it should. Then we found out that an ineffective sealer was used and could not be removed from the bottom of the house and screen. were shown a beautiful landscaping job done by them, only later to find out that about 60 per cent of the work needed to be redone. We did not receive our copy of the papers that needed to be filed with The Villages until we purchased additional planting and then refused to pay until the paperwork was delivered. It cost hundreds for the work to be corrected.

Ripped off by village contractor
Before agreeing with any contractor or vendor, please contact Citizens vs Crime to check on the company. Also do not pay for any work until the work is done. I also learned the hard way. There are lots of unsavory and untrustworthy characters who are only too happy to take your money.

Why do you call this company Village contractor as if The deveoper were involved?
Please explain that, because if you thought every provider here is part of the builder's company, you were mistaken, and made a choice on your own for which you are blaming someone not responsible for your choice... If I am wrong, please let me know, as I have found TV to be impeccably and entirely responsible to back up and fix anything that their contractors provide. |
If this is a new home being built or recently built by Villages of Lake Sumter, Inc ( developer) then the contractor is a sub contractor for VLSI unless there is a contract to the contrary???????
If the homeowner contracted with this contractor then Village contractor is misleading |
An earlier thread by the OP titled "Ripped off by landscaper" provides additional details. It appears that it was an independent contractor, not one hired by The Villages.
|
If the OP had written ripped off by Lady Lake contractor would that have suggested that the contractor worked for Lady Lake or as I would have thought, worked in Lady Lake? The phrase "village contractor" rather than "Villages's contractor" made his meaning clear.

It's right there on every post.

Village Contractor
I think the original post... is correct... they did not use the
name "The Villages or "The Village's Contractor" I think they just referred to them as a Contractor with in...our Community There was no mention to the Developer. They just posted Village Contractor.. The only exception I would say if the homeowner made a contract with The Villages or The Developer... then you would be correct! I know this outfit they are speaking of and warning to all would be "buyer beware". |
Oh give it a rest
Will the typing and spelling police give it a rest. Go get a lunch cocktail and chill out already. The OP is trying to warn others and people are jumping on the phrasing and spelling. I consider that an attack on the person so cut it out. Stay on topic please.

I too had issues with Hernandez-Lopez. Once they are paid they do not honor their written warranty on plants and trees. Never answer the phone nor do they respond to messages! Steer clear of them... Lesson learned....
